Mark Reese
L.Ac, MSOM, NCCAOM
Director, Northside Holistic Center
Mark Reese is one of the foremost acupuncturists in Chicago and is rated among the best therapists in the city. He has been treating the health concerns of patients with acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for more than thirty years and is one the longest practicing acupuncturists in the Chicago area.
After earning degrees in microbiology and biochemistry, followed by work in the cancer research field, he realized that his true calling lay in working to heal people in a more direct fashion. From the lab he moved into creating several grassroots health initiatives where, among many other projects, he created three alternative health clinics for people living with HIV/AIDS at Cook County Hospital, at a shelter for homeless people, and at an agency which served Latinos living with HIV/AIDS.
In the process of working with alternative medical practitioners, Mark became excited by the power of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and eventually enrolled in and graduated from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine.
Mark built and practices at the Northside Holistic Center in Chicago. He has also been on the faculty of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, has taught at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, has served as an expert witness for the courts, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ILAAOM). Synthesizing past skills with more than two decades of clinical experience has led to Mark being called, "the physicians' acupuncturist" – many health care professionals refer their most challenging cases to the Northside Holistic Center to be seen by him.
